The Blood of Dawnwalker sells a million copies, and Rebel Wolves is already thinking about the next choice
One million sales in roughly three days turns a planned franchise into something considerably more concrete. Rebel Wolves is already recruiting for the next Dawnwalker chapter, and its most interesting long-term idea is not simply another game — it is allowing some of the first game's choices to survive into it.
The Blood of Dawnwalker launched September 3 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. By September 5, Rebel Wolves announced that worldwide sales had passed one million copies.
The studio has not published a platform breakdown or the exact moment the threshold was crossed. The milestone announcement arrived roughly three days into release.
For the first game from a newly formed studio and a completely new fantasy property, that is enough momentum to make the next installment much less hypothetical.
The next chapter already needs a Lead Writer
Narrative director and Rebel Wolves co-founder Jakub Szamałek has begun recruiting a Lead Writer to work with the narrative team on what he calls the “next chapter in the Dawnwalker saga.”
That wording deserves some restraint.
Rebel Wolves has not formally announced a game titled The Blood of Dawnwalker 2. There is no release window, platform list or detailed production announcement.
What the recruitment does establish is that narrative work on the continuation is already moving forward.

This was always supposed to become a saga
The sequel ambition did not suddenly appear when the sales counter reached seven digits.
When Bandai Namco announced its publishing agreement with Rebel Wolves in 2024, The Blood of Dawnwalker was already described as the first chapter of the Dawnwalker saga.
Commercial success changes how credible that roadmap becomes.
There is a significant difference between planning multiple games on paper and beginning the second one with evidence that the first has found an audience.
Your first-game decisions may matter later
Rebel Wolves has previously discussed carrying some player choices between entries.
That idea fits Dawnwalker particularly well because its narrative systems are built around scarcity of time. Coen has thirty days and thirty nights to rescue his family, and meaningful activities can advance the clock.
The player is therefore encouraged to prioritize rather than exhaust every objective on the map.
A continuation capable of reading those priorities could make the original timer more consequential. The things a player ignored, resolved or destroyed would not necessarily disappear when the credits roll.
A million sales validates a deliberately uncomfortable RPG idea
Dawnwalker does not completely embrace the familiar open-world assumption that every quest will wait forever.
Its deadline is designed to create pressure and force decisions.
That friction has already generated debate. One of the game's most visible early PC mods expands the available time dramatically for players who dislike the pressure.
The million-copy milestone does not prove that every buyer approves of the system. It does demonstrate that an unusual structural constraint did not prevent a new RPG property from attracting a substantial launch audience.
Rebel Wolves has a better first-studio problem than most
The studio was founded by experienced former CD Projekt developers, including former The Witcher 3 director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz. Szamałek himself previously worked on The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077.
That background gave Dawnwalker immediate visibility, but it also created expectations that a collection of famous résumés alone could not satisfy.
The launch has now given the studio something more useful than pedigree: customers.
There is still plenty of work on the first game. Rebel Wolves has already released an early hotfix and acknowledged PC issues including stuttering and crashes.
The narrative team is nevertheless looking beyond Vale Sangora.
Not officially Dawnwalker 2 yet, but clearly not the end
A recruitment post is not a sequel reveal, and there is currently no reason to invent a title or release date.
It does confirm that Rebel Wolves is following through on its original saga plan and beginning to staff the writing team for whatever comes next.
Every planned franchise eventually needs proof that someone wants a second chapter.
The Blood of Dawnwalker just sold more than a million copies of the first.
