Last Epoch Season 5 arrives October 1, while Rage of the Frostborn keeps most of its secrets

Rage of the Frostborn launches on October 1, 2026. That is the firm part of Eleventh Hour Games' first Season 5 reveal. What players will actually be doing once the season begins is still largely being kept for September.

Eleventh Hour Games used its July Eterra Monthly update, published on August 6, to put a date on Last Epoch's next reset. Season 5 is called Rage of the Frostborn and will begin on Thursday, October 1.

The accompanying teaser is intentionally slight. It establishes a frozen theme and a threatening tone, then leaves before it can explain the systems behind either. EHG is treating this as the beginning of the reveal cycle rather than the full Season 5 presentation.

Shattered Omens gets a long run

Season 4 launched on March 26, meaning more than six months will separate Shattered Omens from its successor. That gap quickly became part of the discussion beneath EHG's announcement.

The studio has already addressed its broader release cadence. In an earlier development update, EHG said it wants to shorten seasonal waits eventually but does not want to do so by weakening individual releases. The team is hiring, improving internal tools and working on both the Orobyss expansion and the PlayStation 5 version alongside seasonal development.

Season 5 therefore lands during a fairly crowded development period rather than existing as the studio's only active project.

Season 5 has been leaking out one object at a time

The reveal technically began before Rage of the Frostborn had a public name. EHG opened a dedicated Season 5 teaser thread in June, collecting concept art and items shown during its recurring developer Q&A streams.

Perilous Reflection is one of the clearer examples. The unique shield interacts directly with Marrow Shards, consuming a percentage of maximum health when the skill is cast to make the projectiles return at the end of their travel. Its affixes also interact with blocking, cast speed and spell critical chance.

That tells players something about new equipment. It does not establish what Rage of the Frostborn's main seasonal mechanic will be, and EHG has not yet published a full feature list.

September should contain the actual explanation

The July newsletter spends surprisingly little time describing Season 5 beyond its teaser. The remaining sections move through a community Bleed Bladedancer build, the Perilous Reflection preview and a new Pets of Epoch feature.

EHG says August is being spent getting Season 5 ready and that more details are coming. The next Eterra Monthly update is expected in September, leaving the studio a relatively narrow window to explain the season before launch.

The wider seasonal framework is already established. Last Epoch's official site describes seasons as fresh starts with original content, reset leaderboards and a new economy.

What distinguishes Rage of the Frostborn within that framework is still mostly hidden. October 1 is locked in; the mechanics behind the name are the part EHG has chosen to save for later.
