Marvel's Wolverine launches September 15 on PS5 with a surprisingly clear design choice behind it. Insomniac is not giving Logan another giant superhero sandbox. It is putting the claws, the aggression and the man carrying them at the center of a focused single-player adventure.

There is not much runway left for Marvel's Wolverine. Insomniac's latest trailer is no longer trying to introduce the game from scratch; it is assembling the pieces players have seen throughout 2026 and letting Logan tear through them.

Two hours of hands-on play are enough to expose the difference. Marvel’s Wolverine obviously benefits from the expertise Insomniac developed through Spider-Man, but the studio is not recreating Manhattan around a more violent hero. This is a linear, more aggressive game built around a Logan who constantly turns Rage into an advantage.
Insomniac gets the essential part right: playing Wolverine is fast, brutal and immediately satisfying. Beneath that excellent combat loop, however, sits a much simpler action game than its spectacle suggests, with repetition and heavy guidance limiting its depth.
