PEAK reaches PS5 on October 22 with crossplay and every previous content update

PEAK launches on PlayStation 5 on October 22, 2026, with crossplay available from day one. The cooperative climbing adventure from Aggro Crab and Landfall will support teams of up to four players across PS5 and PC, while the console release includes the biomes, items and content updates introduced since the game's original Steam launch.

The mountain in PEAK is dangerous, but an unreliable climbing partner can be just as troublesome. One scout takes an impossible shortcut, another runs out of stamina, and suddenly the entire expedition has to decide whether a rescue attempt is worth the risk.

Aggro Crab and Landfall have built their game around these unpredictable cooperative situations. Following its PC release in June 2025, PEAK is scheduled to arrive on PlayStation 5 on October 22, bringing a new group of players into the adventure.

Four scouts against the mountain

The premise is straightforward. A group of nature scouts becomes stranded on a mysterious island following a plane crash. Their only hope of rescue is to reach the top of the mountain rising from the island's center.

Players can attempt the climb alone or join up to three friends. Managing stamina, injuries and food supplies is essential because every setback can make the next section harder.

The central challenge is keeping everyone moving. The strongest climber might reach a ledge quickly, but that accomplishment is not particularly useful if the rest of the group cannot follow.

This creates situations that are funny precisely because they are not completely scripted. An improvised rescue, a poorly planned route or a shortage of supplies can transform a routine ascent into an unexpected disaster.

Crossplay brings PC and PS5 players together

Cross-platform cooperative play will be supported when PEAK launches on PlayStation 5. Console players can climb with friends using the existing PC version.

For a game built around cooperation, removing platform barriers is particularly valuable. Players do not need to purchase the same hardware simply to join their friends on an expedition.

The developers frame this feature as an extension of the game's central idea: friendship, shared challenges and the importance of helping teammates.

Four biomes and plenty of environmental hazards

The mountain contains four biomes, each introducing different challenges. The announced hazards include tornadoes, poisonous clouds, hostile birds and zombies.

Survival also depends on more familiar constraints. Scouts must find food, manage injuries and avoid allowing their stamina to deteriorate before especially demanding climbs.

A mistake may therefore affect more than one encounter. Arriving at the next section with reduced stamina can turn an otherwise manageable obstacle into a major problem.

Custom runs provide options for adjusting the difficulty and certain gameplay rules. The developers also confirm that the feature allowing players to kick their friends remains included in the PS5 version.

The full content history comes to console

Aggro Crab and Landfall say the PS5 release includes every content update, biome and item added since PEAK originally launched on PC.

This should allow PlayStation players to begin with the expanded version of the adventure rather than the smaller launch-day experience from 2025.

The announcement does not establish final console performance specifications, pricing or every platform-specific implementation detail. Those points require separate confirmation.

A project born from a month-long game jam

PEAK began as a collaboration between two independent studios. Aggro Crab, based in Seattle, and Sweden's Landfall became friends after meeting at a developer conference in 2022.

In February 2025, seven developers from the two studios gathered in an apartment in Seoul for a month-long game jam.

Their experiment became a cooperative climbing game, which the teams continued developing before its Steam release on June 16, 2025.

Now the project is reaching another platform. The October 22 PS5 launch will allow new scouts to experience the same mixture of cooperation, climbing challenges and catastrophic group decisions alongside their PC friends.
