Helldivers 2 rolls out the heavy artillery: Ironclad Democracy mostly wants you to stop flying twenty meters after every impact

Helldivers 2 already contains enough explosives to turn a bad Stratagem throw into an interplanetary workplace incident. Ironclad Democracy adds more, but its most interesting idea may point in the opposite direction: giving Helldivers a better chance of remaining upright when all that destructive power comes back at them.

Helldivers 2 rolls out the heavy artillery: Ironclad Democracy mostly wants you to stop flying twenty meters after every impact

Ironclad Democracy went live in Helldivers 2 on September 22.

Arrowhead Game Studios' latest Premium Warbond has a deliberately blunt identity built around heavy weapons, armor breaking, fire and equipment for soldiers who care less about graceful positioning than surviving the consequences.

Access requires the base game and Super Credits, with individual rewards then unlocked through game progression.

The AR-11 Arbitrator carries two answers in one primary

The AR-11 Arbitrator is the first of three new weapons.

It is an assault rifle using caseless ammunition with an underslung shotgun attached beneath the main barrel.

That combination has an obvious use in Helldivers 2: maintain sustained rifle fire while retaining a much more violent response when something closes the distance unexpectedly.

Arrowhead's announcement does not provide the full damage, ammunition and penetration statistics, so its actual place in optimized loadouts should be judged from the live values rather than declared from the marketing description alone.

The GL-15 Evictor turns your primary slot into a methodical grenade launcher

The GL-15 Evictor takes a considerably less subtle approach.

It is a pump-action grenade launcher classified as a primary weapon. Each round is loaded manually.

That naturally limits continuous explosive fire. The Evictor trades the precision and sustained rate of a conventional rifle for area damage, then asks its user to find enough breathing room to reload one projectile at a time.

The squad role is easy to understand even before discussing exact numbers. Someone needs to cover the reload windows while the Evictor user turns clustered enemies into everybody else's problem.

The P-34 Breacher puts a tiny missile system in the secondary slot

The P-34 Breacher may be the stranger addition on paper.

This secondary fires sticky projectiles propelled by phosphorous fuel, designed to burn through a target's outer protection before delivering an explosive payoff.

Its slot matters as much as the weapon itself. A Helldiver can retain a familiar primary while carrying a specialized anti-armor option without automatically dedicating the support weapon slot to that task.

That does not mean the Breacher replaces true anti-tank equipment. Arrowhead describes it as capable of attacking armor; its practical limits depend on what it can penetrate and how many shots are required.

The new anti-tank grenade follows you before finding something else to follow

Ironclad Democracy includes two new Throwables.

The G-60 Anti-Tank Seeker behaves more like a small explosive drone than a conventional grenade. Once deployed, it follows the Helldiver before homing in on a nearby enemy and detonating on impact.

Arrowhead specifically highlights armored vehicles as preferred targets.

That initial following phase also creates a different kind of risk. The throwable does not simply leave the player's hand and immediately become somebody else's problem.

The G-8 Immolation goes the opposite way. It sacrifices a conventional blast in favor of covering the target area in fire.

Blunt-Force Mitigation addresses an extremely Helldivers way to die

Both new armor sets share the Blunt-Force Mitigation passive.

Arrowhead defines the effect precisely: 30 percent less damage from impacts and collisions, increased resistance to being knocked off your feet, plus a higher armor rating.

The BFM-16 Tanker applies that concept to light armor. The BFM-220 Ironclad is the heavy version, described as being forged from surplus hull plating.

The passive does not promise immunity to explosions. It specifically tackles a familiar consequence of Helldivers 2 chaos: being knocked down, thrown into terrain or losing control after a violent impact.

Two Boosters directly modify equipment the squad already understands

Surplus EAT Allocation gives the squad two free uses of the Expendable Anti-Tank Stratagem during every mission.

Arrowhead notes that this is enough to give all four squad members one disposable launcher if the equipment is distributed accordingly.

It is therefore not an abstract numerical buff. It directly increases the amount of anti-tank hardware available during the operation.

Integrated Extinguishers reduces the time needed to put out flames when a Helldiver catches fire.

Putting that Booster in the same Warbond as the G-8 Immolation feels appropriately unsubtle.

Tanks receive Premium Warbond-exclusive patterns for the first time

Ironclad Democracy introduces three tank-exclusive patterns: Verdant camouflage, Glacial polymer and Executive onyx.

Arrowhead describes tank patterns as a first for a Premium Warbond.

The remaining rewards include the Standard of Rapid Evacuation and Shroud of The Juggernaut capes with matching Player Cards, the Helmet Durability Check emote and the Treadhead title.

This Warbond is doing more than adding three weapons to an already large arsenal

A consistent theme emerges across the rewards: several pieces change how squads handle armored threats or survive the consequences of their own explosive decisions.

The Evictor sacrifices the primary slot for area damage. The Breacher tries to fit armor-breaking utility into the secondary slot. The G-60 automates part of target acquisition, while Surplus EAT Allocation simply puts more anti-tank launchers into the mission.

And when all of that inevitably sends someone into a rock, Blunt-Force Mitigation is there to improve the odds that the Helldiver gets back up.

Ironclad Democracy is now deployed across PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
