Dune: Awakening is finally letting players build like the Sardaukar

Dune: Awakening already shares plenty of visual DNA with the recent films. Filmic Archive removes any remaining ambiguity by directly turning costumes and production design from Denis Villeneuve's two Dune movies into player cosmetics and building parts.

The DLC launches September 22 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at $9.99. It arrives on the same day as Dune: Awakening's console release.

The movie connection starts in the wardrobe

Filmic Archive includes the Atreides Hoplite Armor based on House Atreides combat gear from Dune: Part One and the Caladan Stormcoat inspired by the coat worn by Paul and Duke Leto.

Gurney Halleck's worn stillsuit from Part Two provides the basis for the Longhaul Stillsuit, while the Harkonnen Cataphract Armor draws from the second movie's heavier Harkonnen design.

The Aegis of an Unwalked Path takes a slightly stranger route through the adaptation. It is based on the Fremen holy warriors seen through Paul's visions in Part One rather than a conventional uniform worn through an extended scene.

These are looks rather than character skins. Dune: Awakening keeps the player's own protagonist instead of turning everyone who buys the DLC into Paul Atreides.

The Sardaukar material is much larger than one armor set

The most substantial addition is architectural. Funcom includes 73 Sardaukar building pieces and another 17 decorations for constructing an Imperial military-style base.

That makes the film material more relevant to Awakening's actual structure than a conventional costume pack would be. Base building is persistent and highly visible, so the Sardaukar aesthetic can take over an entire player settlement rather than disappear beneath a different armor set.

The pack also adds Sardaukar Legionnaire Armor, Velites Armor and an Averruncus Stillsuit.

Weapons and rituals complete the costume department

A Sardaukar Oathblade and Benediction Disruptor are included, alongside the Sardaukar Kneel and Blood Wipe emotes.

There is also a Tactical Swatch for extending the same visual identity through customizable equipment.

Funcom is positioning Filmic Archive as cosmetic content rather than a new progression track or story expansion. There is no new campaign attached to dressing like the Imperium.

The adaptation is moving through the player's own story

Dune: Awakening does not simply replay the plot of Villeneuve's films. Its alternate-history structure puts a customizable player character on Arrakis and changes several assumptions from the familiar Paul Atreides story.

Filmic Archive therefore creates an unusual kind of adaptation. The movie imagery is separated from the characters and narrative that originally gave it meaning, then handed to players as raw material.

You are not reenacting Part One or Part Two. You are borrowing their wardrobe and architecture to build a different life on Arrakis.
