BALL x PIT is going bigger with Risen Ballbylon, adding 24 balls and a new layer to its economy

Risen Ballbylon is not being pitched as another routine content drop. After three free updates, BALL x PIT is moving into paid expansion territory with a package built around new interactions, new character rules and an extra resource feeding the town-building side of the game.

The elevator is finally going up

BALL x PIT spent its first year sending treasure hunters deeper into the ruins beneath Ballbylon. Risen Ballbylon reverses that trip. The new areas sit above the pit, in layers of the former city left floating in the sky and warped by the meteor that destroyed it.

There is one hard requirement: this is post-game content. Players have to complete the base game before entering the expansion.

New characters start by breaking familiar rules

Eight additional characters are coming, and the first three examples are more interesting than another set of percentage bonuses. The Sentinel can aim in any direction. The Stonewaller sends balls through to the opposite side when they hit a wall for the first time. The Right Hand Man deals double damage off the right wall and half damage off the left.

Those abilities interfere directly with aiming, ricochets and positioning. For a game whose builds are largely about turning simple trajectories into increasingly ridiculous chains of interactions, changing the geometry is a fairly efficient way to make an old ball feel new again.

Twenty-four more balls enter an already messy fusion system

Risen Ballbylon adds 24 balls and 45 passives. Devolver has already named the Beast ball, which attaches itself to enemies and continues dealing damage, the earthquake-producing Kaiju ball, the curse-based Misfortune ball and the spiked Hedgehog ball.

The expansion also includes four new battlefields with new bosses and more than 40 additional enemies. That is plenty of raw content, but the more consequential part may be what all those extra balls do to the fusion pool. BALL x PIT's combat works because a modest choice at the start of a run can become something absurd several upgrades later. Adding two dozen new inputs multiplies the opportunities for that nonsense rather quickly.

Crystals give New Ballbylon another job to do

Back above ground, twenty buildings are joining the settlement. The announced list ranges from a Floating Fortress and Crystal Monolith to a Soup Kitchen, Circus Tent and Fission Chamber.

Crystals are also being introduced as a mineable resource. Devolver says they will add further complexity to the game's economy, although the announcement stops short of detailing the entire economic loop. That leaves an important question open: whether crystals create meaningful trade-offs in town planning or simply become another currency to accumulate.

A paid expansion after a year of free updates

The official Steam announcement gives Risen Ballbylon a November 12, 2026 release date and a $6.99 price. It is due across BALL x PIT's supported platforms after the base game's Regal, Shadow and Naturalist updates were delivered for free.

This one is clearly aimed at players who already think they understand the machine. Four battlefields are easy to count. What happens when eight characters, 24 balls and 45 passives start colliding with the systems already there is much harder.
