Chill Planet Is Rebuilding Its Road Trip Before 2027, With Low-Poly 3D Travel and a New Camping Phase
Chill Planet has a meteor on the way, but its latest development update is concerned with something much smaller: making a trip across Japan actually feel like a trip. aozorite is reworking the game's interface, movement scenes and presentation before its 2027 launch.
DRECOM CREATORS STUDIO announced Chill Planet as one of its first three publishing titles on September 2. The PC deck-building adventure is developed by Japanese indie team aozorite.
An updated build is being prepared for Tokyo Game Show 2026.
The route is getting a new interface
Protagonist Hinako Ohara leaves Kagoshima on her father's motorcycle after humanity learns that a meteor will destroy the world. She decides to cross Japan and reach Hokkaido before the end.
Travel is handled through cards, items and route planning. Players can take detours through real locations, collect useful objects and assemble builds that improve the journey.

aozorite says the interface has been redesigned to make the itinerary easier to read without covering too much scenery. The team looked at information placement from a driver's perspective and at familiar map-app interactions while rebuilding it.
Travel scenes are moving from 2D to low-poly 3D
The older version represented the travelling portion with 2D animation. The new build combines low-poly character models with illustrated backgrounds that change according to the region being crossed.

Card choices now trigger additional effects and character cut-ins as well. The intention is to connect menu decisions more closely to what the group appears to be experiencing on the road.
For a card-driven adventure, that visual change matters more than the raw switch from 2D to 3D. The design needs to communicate movement across a country while much of the player's agency still happens through deck construction.
Camping is being saved for the full game
The Tokyo Game Show build will not include every planned feature. aozorite has confirmed that a camping section is being developed for the finished version.
Players will collect camping gear during the journey and use it for quieter sequences with the party.
That sits neatly beside the game's central contradiction. The world has a fixed end date, but the cast keeps making plans for the next stop.
Four travellers heading north
Hinako is eventually joined by Mei Akasaka, Ruri Misumi and Midori Shimabukuro. Drecom is highlighting their conversations and individual personalities as another major part of the adventure.
The publisher describes Chill Planet as a calm experience built around an almost everyday atmosphere despite its apocalyptic setting.
The revised version will be playable at DRECOM CREATORS STUDIO's Tokyo Game Show booth from September 17 to 21. Steam currently lists the release simply as 2027.
