Arknights: Endfield is already reworking its weapon gacha as Typhoeus arrives in Dreamscape of Wind and Snow

Typhoeus is naturally the character occupying most of Endfield's new artwork, but the more consequential experiment sits one menu away from her recruitment banner. Dreamscape of Wind and Snow gives players another region and another operator to chase while continuing to reshape the system used to acquire the weapon that goes with that operator.

Arknights: Endfield is already reworking its weapon gacha as Typhoeus arrives in Dreamscape of Wind and Snow

Dreamscape of Wind and Snow went live in Arknights: Endfield on September 2.

The update expands Wuling with new exploration spaces and missions, introduces Typhoeus and Purrchena, adds three weapons and begins another staggered schedule of challenge content.

Typhoeus headlines the first phase through the Winter Hunt Chartered Headhunting banner, which remains available through September 30.

Typhoeus arrives with an entire frozen storyline around her

Typhoeus is a 6-star operator connected to a familiar character from the wider Arknights universe.

Her Endfield story takes place around the newly opened Snowy Forest in Wuling.

The Endministrator and Chief Engineer Andre encounter her while investigating a supernatural forest where enchanted fog repeatedly sends travelers back along the path they have already taken.

That setup becomes the basis of the new narrative missions rather than functioning only as a short introduction attached to the banner.

The update also adds the 5-star operator Purrchena.

Snowy Forest gives the banner character an actual place in the world

The update opens Wuling - Snowy Forest and Wuling - Suiming.

New exploration and side missions accompany those areas, alongside the regional boss Gloomwald's Rage.

GRYPHLINE has also implemented environmental snow accumulation on characters and their hair while they move through the region.

It is a small visual effect, but it helps make this update feel like a location built around its story instead of a character banner with some scenery attached.

Deep Cold Issue is where the gacha design becomes more interesting

Typhoeus's featured 6-star Arts Unit, Umbra of Frigid Eventide, is the Rate-UP weapon in Deep Cold Issue.

The banner uses Endfield's Arsenal Issue system.

One Arsenal Issue consumes an Arsenal Ticket and produces ten random weapons, with at least one 5-star or higher item guaranteed inside that set.

The progression rewards are more important than the individual roll structure.

After predetermined numbers of issues, the banner alternates between awarding its specific Arms Offering Crate and the featured Rate-UP 6-star weapon.

That gives the system a defined route toward the signature weapon instead of leaving every attempt dependent on an unlimited sequence of random outcomes.

The guarantee comes with a very important expiration date

Arsenal Issue progression does not carry forward.

When a weapon banner ends, its reward counter resets rather than transferring to the next Arsenal Issue.

That changes how players should think about partially investing in a banner.

Starting without enough resources to reach the desired milestone can leave progress stranded when the rotation changes.

The system is therefore more predictable than a completely open-ended weapon lottery, but it still strongly rewards committing enough currency to finish what was started.

Character pulls also feed the weapon economy

Endfield links its operator and weapon systems through Arsenal Tickets.

On Winter Hunt, acquiring a 5-star operator grants 200 Arsenal Tickets, while a 4-star grants 20.

Those tickets can then be spent on Arsenal Issues or used in Arsenal Exchange to directly purchase selected weapons.

That makes secondary character-banner results part of a larger equipment progression loop rather than leaving the two gachas completely isolated.

It is a clever system because even an operator pull that was not the target can still move the account closer to another useful acquisition.

Pulling Typhoeus still creates the obvious temptation to pull again

None of that removes the underlying commercial structure.

Winter Hunt promotes Typhoeus at exactly the same time Deep Cold Issue promotes her signature 6-star weapon.

A player who successfully acquires the character is immediately presented with the next optimization target.

A defined reward path makes that decision easier to price.

It does not remove the familiar gacha pressure created by pairing a desirable character with equipment designed specifically around that character.

Winter Hunt adds more opportunities before players spend their main currency

GRYPHLINE is running the Fletched Irontip sign-in event alongside the banner.

Signing in for seven days provides five Fletched Irontip Headhunting Permits.

Another five can be purchased through limited-time AIC Quota Exchange deals.

Combat Drills also lets players test Typhoeus with a preset team and earn additional rewards.

That trial matters more than it may sound. A character's real value in Endfield depends heavily on rotations, elemental interactions and team composition, none of which are fully communicated by a rarity icon.

There are three new weapons in the update

Umbra of Frigid Eventide is only one part of the equipment additions.

Dreamscape of Wind and Snow also introduces the 6-star Suffering's End Arts Unit and the 5-star Dessert Moment Sword.

Deep Cold Issue itself can produce a wider collection of 6-star weapons, including Exemplar, Clannibal, Valiant, Oblivion, Detonation Unit and Rapid Ascent.

The featured weapon therefore has milestone protection while the individual pulls between those milestones continue to draw from a broader pool.

The update is already preparing another recruitment format

Dreamscape of Wind and Snow is designed as a staggered version rather than a single launch-day content dump.

Additional Echoes of War and Umbral Monument content will open later, with another substantial phase scheduled around September 24.

Yvonne is also set to return through Resplendent Spectrum, which belongs to a newly introduced category called RE-Factor Headhunting.

That means weapon acquisition is not the only monetization structure being adjusted.

Endfield is also building additional ways to rotate previously released operators back into the acquisition system.

Endfield's economy is moving quickly for a game that launched in January

Arknights: Endfield only launched worldwide on January 22, 2026.

Less than a year later, GRYPHLINE is already experimenting with multiple Headhunting categories, Arsenal Exchange and milestone-based weapon rewards.

That may be the most revealing part of Dreamscape of Wind and Snow.

The content side is straightforward: another operator, another environment, another boss and another collection of events.

The acquisition economy is still being actively shaped.

A guaranteed featured weapon at defined progression milestones reduces uncertainty. Resetting that progression when the banner expires preserves very real pressure once a player begins spending.

Endfield is making its weapon gacha easier to understand without necessarily making it inexpensive.

For a gacha game, that distinction matters much more than another snowy map.
