Petit Planet is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027, with PC and mobile launch confirmed for December 4

HoYoverse is preparing a much quieter adventure than its usual fantasy epics. On November 1, 2026, the developer confirmed that Petit Planet will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027. Before then, the free-to-play cosmic life simulation will launch on December 4 for PC, iOS and Android, offering farming, decorating, exploration and friendships across a collection of tiny worlds.

After the spectacular battles of Genshin Impact and the interstellar adventures of Honkai: Star Rail, HoYoverse is changing the pace.

Petit Planet gives players a small world to nurture, neighbors to meet and everyday activities to enjoy without having to save the universe.

The project is now heading to another platform.

During its November 1, 2026 prelaunch presentation, HoYoverse announced a Nintendo Switch 2 version scheduled for 2027.

Development is ongoing, and Nintendo players will have to wait longer than those on other platforms.

Petit Planet will first launch on December 4, 2026, for PC, iOS and Android.

Nintendo Switch 2 version confirmed for 2027

The announcement was confirmed by COGNOSPHERE, the company operating the HoYoverse brand internationally.

Petit Planet is scheduled to arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 during 2027.

No more precise release date has been provided.

The developer says the version remains in production and plans to share platform-specific gameplay footage and additional information later.

This is a confirmation of development, not an announcement that the game is already available on Nintendo hardware.

The Switch 2 edition is not part of the December 4 launch.

HoYoverse has not announced the resolution, frame rate or any exclusive features for Nintendo's console.

It also remains unclear how save transfers and multiplayer activities will operate between Switch 2, PC and mobile.

Those features should not be assumed until the developer explains the platform integration.

Worldwide PC and mobile launch on December 4

The schedule is more detailed for the initial release.

Petit Planet is set to launch worldwide on Friday, December 4, 2026, for Windows PC, iOS and Android.

The PC version will be available through the official client and Epic Games Store.

Mobile editions will be distributed through the App Store and Google Play.

Preloading is scheduled to begin December 1.

HoYoverse is also preparing a special broadcast for December 3, immediately before launch.

The program will provide further information about upcoming events and collaborations.

Preregistration remains available through the official website.

The game will be free to download, although that does not establish that every cosmetic or optional item will be available without in-app purchases.

Grow a planet at your own pace

Petit Planet is built around a simple idea: every player becomes the caretaker of a small planet.

The world gradually evolves as players develop its environment and build a community.

One of the earliest activities involves planting a Luca Seed.

As it grows, the seed becomes a Luca Arbor, a tree that influences the development of the planet.

Its growth helps shape the landscapes, seasons and ecosystems.

The world is therefore intended to evolve beyond an empty space waiting to be filled with furniture.

HoYoverse connects planetary development to a variety of daily activities.

Players can grow crops, fish, gather materials and craft objects.

They can also alter parts of their surroundings and decorate their homes.

The intention is to let players establish their own style rather than follow one strictly predetermined approach.

Farming, fishing and furniture crafting

Relaxing everyday activities are central to the experience.

Players can cultivate land and harvest different crops.

They can explore the environment to obtain materials used in crafting.

Furniture creation will support the customization of indoor and outdoor spaces.

Gameplay demonstrations reveal a colorful art direction with stylized characters and readable environments.

The formula naturally resembles other life simulations built around home customization and relationships with residents.

However, HoYoverse adds a cosmic setting, additional worlds to visit and a central tree whose growth influences the planet itself.

The full release will be needed to evaluate the depth of the crafting systems and the variety of long-term activities.

Neighbors with their own stories

Petit Planet is not solely about decorating a home.

Relationships with other inhabitants are another important part of the game.

Each Neighbor has a personality and stories that players can gradually discover.

The prelaunch presentation highlights characters including Mobai, who helps welcome new Planet Tenders, and Elsasani, who is associated with travel through the Starsea.

More Neighbors can join the player's world as progress continues.

Their interactions are intended to make the planetary community feel more alive.

The inhabitants are not presented merely as decorative elements.

HoYoverse wants their personalities and stories to become part of the player's everyday routine.

The real depth of these relationships and their effect on progression will become clearer at launch.

Explore the Starsea and Galactic Bazaar

Although every player has a home planet, Petit Planet is not limited to that location.

Players can travel through the Starsea, a space connecting different regions and smaller worlds.

They will be able to discover Islets and take part in additional activities.

The Galactic Bazaar will provide another important destination.

This social hub is expected to feature minigames, community activities and opportunities to share creations.

HoYoverse also mentions in-game auctions.

However, the precise rules and economic systems behind those activities have not yet been fully detailed.

They should not automatically be interpreted as a completely open player-to-player marketplace.

More than 10 million preregistrations

HoYoverse also announced a notable milestone during its presentation.

According to the publisher, Petit Planet has surpassed 10 million preregistrations worldwide.

The associated community reward milestones have been reached.

Players will receive several rewards prepared for launch.

However, the figure represents advance registrations.

It is not equivalent to 10 million completed downloads or daily active players.

The December 4 launch will provide a clearer picture of the audience that actually starts playing.

More than 1,000 items earnable through gameplay

The developer says more than 1,000 clothing and furniture items can be earned through regular gameplay without purchasing them.

These items will help players customize their characters, homes and surroundings.

The announcement offers an indication of the amount of customization content planned.

It does not guarantee that every cosmetic in the game will be free.

The complete business model will need to be evaluated when the game becomes available.

Login rewards have also been announced.

The Japanese launch communication mentions rewards for logging in over seven days and additional resources linked to growing the Luca Arbor.

HoYoverse is also organizing community activities related to preregistration and planetary creation.

Community events begin before launch

Starting November 1, players can participate in a website event that lets them design a personalized planet.

This provides a way to engage with the game before the servers open.

Another campaign encourages players to form preregistration teams with two friends to earn a cosmetic reward.

The first seasonal creation festival is scheduled to begin on December 4.

Participants will be able to submit their creations and compete for selected rewards.

The announcement includes in-game items, merchandise and monetary prizes among the possible awards.

Each contest has its own rules and eligibility requirements.

Those prizes should not be described as rewards automatically granted to every player.

What about French localization?

Petit Planet previously supported French text during its final beta.

The official test documentation also listed English, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Korean and several additional languages.

That is encouraging for French-speaking players interested in a game built partly around conversations with Neighbors.

However, the Nintendo Switch 2 announcement does not provide a complete language specification for that version.

It also does not confirm every voice acting language.

The final platform-specific localization details will need to be checked when HoYoverse reveals more information.

A new contender in the cozy game space

Petit Planet represents a substantial change of direction compared with HoYoverse's better-known releases.

Spectacular combat and heroic progression are replaced by building, relationships and everyday activities.

A Nintendo Switch 2 version seems like a natural fit for a game designed around relaxed sessions.

Nevertheless, the announcement alone cannot establish the technical performance or final quality of the port.

The next major milestone is December 4, 2026, when PC and mobile players are scheduled to begin their planetary adventures.

Nintendo Switch 2 owners will have to wait until 2027, with no exact launch date yet confirmed.

HoYoverse promises additional gameplay footage and details about that version in future announcements.
