CONTROL Resonant launches today, and Dylan Faden is taking the Bureau’s mess outside

The Oldest House failed to keep the weirdness indoors. CONTROL Resonant begins its worldwide digital rollout today at 14:00 UTC, sending Dylan Faden into a paranaturally distorted Manhattan and replacing much of Jesse's gun-focused combat with a shapeshifting melee weapon.

There is one global unlock time

CONTROL Resonant's standard digital release is set for September 24 at 14:00 UTC. That puts the game live at the same moment on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and the Epic Games Store rather than rolling from one local midnight to another. GeForce NOW support is also part of the launch.

Some PS5 players are already ahead of that clock. The PlayStation 5 Digital Deluxe Edition includes 48-hour early access, which began on September 22. Physical copies are moving in the opposite direction: Standard and SteelBook editions for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are scheduled for October 15. Remedy still lists the Mac release for later in 2026 through Steam and the App Store.

CONTROL has a different Faden in charge now

Dylan Faden is the sole playable lead this time. Years after being confined by the Federal Bureau of Control, he emerges from the Oldest House into a Manhattan being rewritten by a paranatural crisis. Jesse Faden remains central to the story, but she is missing when Dylan's part of it begins.

That reversal gives Resonant a neat starting image. Jesse walked into the Oldest House in the first CONTROL; Dylan now walks out of it. The sequel spreads its environments across large, distinct zones of Manhattan, with optional discoveries, side activities and hidden encounters sitting alongside the main path.

The bigger departure is the weapon

Dylan does not inherit Jesse's Service Weapon. He carries the Aberrant, a shapeshifting melee weapon built to transform as fights change. Remedy has shown it moving between heavy two-handed attacks and quicker blade configurations, pushing combat much closer to enemies than the ranged rhythm of the original game.

That melee focus sits inside a broader action-RPG structure. Dylan develops supernatural abilities and a deeper progression setup while exploring a city where ordinary geometry has stopped being particularly persuasive. Gravity Anomalies can rotate orientation and turn walls, floors and ceilings into less reliable concepts, feeding both traversal and combat.

The Hiss and the Mould are still part of the mess, but Resonant is not simply returning to the first game's rooms with larger numbers attached. Its scale, protagonist and combat loop all move at once. Remedy is still keeping the floating architecture and paranormal bureaucracy; Dylan just has to deal with them from considerably closer range.

Today means digital

For anyone looking at a storefront today, the useful distinction is the format. September 24 is the worldwide digital launch date on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. A boxed console copy remains a few weeks away, with October 15 attached to the physical editions.

Remedy Entertainment develops and publishes CONTROL Resonant itself, with Annapurna Pictures co-financing and co-producing the project. The studio has described it as its most expansive game to date. At 14:00 UTC, everyone outside the PS5 early-access window gets to find out how much Manhattan can bend before it stops looking like Manhattan.
