Genshin Impact is finally giving away an older limited 5-star, and its sixth anniversary genuinely changes the value of the gacha

For years, a Genshin Impact anniversary was mostly an exercise in counting Primogems, Fates and commemorative items. Year six reaches into something much more sensitive: the limited character catalog itself. Version 7.1 will let eligible players directly choose one of six older event-exclusive 5-stars. That is more than another generous reward bundle. It is the first time Genshin is officially turning part of its old premium roster into a direct anniversary choice.

Genshin Impact in 2026 — a superb party RPG still trapped inside its gacha economy

Six years after launch, Genshin Impact is no longer merely the free-to-play Breath of the Wild comparison that followed it in 2020. Its elemental combat, regions and exploration now have a clear identity of their own. The old problem never vanished, however: every exciting new character remains attached to an economy of scarcity, Resin and pulls that can turn team-building into resource scheduling.
