WheelMates is out, and bringing a second driver is mandatory
WheelMates launched on Steam on September 1, six days earlier than the date Firevolt originally announced. Its Friend's Pass makes the unusual requirement easier to manage: this adventure cannot be played alone, but only one online player needs to own it.
The scale does most of the work at first. WheelMates drops two miniature RC cars into a professor's home, where desks become tracks, shelves become platforms and ordinary household clutter suddenly has the proportions of an obstacle course.
The professor himself is missing. Following his call for help sends both cars deeper into the house and its laboratory, with environmental puzzles and hidden routes gradually revealing what happened there.
Two cars because every problem expects two players
This is not a co-op option added on top of a single-player game. WheelMates requires two people. Challenges are built around communication, coordinated timing and situations in which each car has a different part of the solution.
Players can team up online or use local split-screen. For online sessions, the Friend's Pass means the second player does not need to purchase another copy of the game.

The house changes as the cars do
Progress adds new abilities to the RC cars rather than simply making them faster. Rope-swinging, magnetic wheels and magnetic grabbing tools extend how they can move through the environment and interact with its oversized machinery.
Those gadgets also give previously explored spaces another purpose. Hidden rooms and alternative routes become accessible as the cars gain new ways to traverse the professor's home, leaving room for exploration beyond the direct route through the story.
Firevolt says the main adventure lasts roughly six hours. Exploring secrets, mini-games and additional content can push a run closer to eight.
PC first, consoles next year
WheelMates currently targets PC, with Steam Deck support included. PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch versions are planned for the first half of 2027.
The PC version has been available on Steam since September 1, 2026.
