Usual June misses Halloween as Finji delays its supernatural adventure to January 2027
Usual June will not arrive in time for Halloween after all. Finji has moved its supernatural action-adventure game from October 28, 2026, to January 20, 2027, giving players a longer wait before they can explore Fen Harbor's growing mystery.
A game about ghosts, mysterious disappearances and strange creatures invading a cemetery seemed perfectly suited to an October release. Finji originally planned to launch Usual June on October 28, just ahead of Halloween.
That plan has changed. The developer and publisher has delayed the game until January 20, 2027, a date now reflected on its Steam store page and in the updated release trailer.
The delay was reported on October 12. Some older announcements still refer to the October launch, but the current release schedule supersedes that information.
June's hometown is changing
Usual June follows a college student returning to Fen Harbor, hoping for a relatively ordinary break spent catching up with friends and dealing with everyday responsibilities.
Instead, crystalline monsters begin appearing in the cemetery, local ghosts start disappearing, and a powerful newcomer to town appears to have questionable intentions.
June also has more personal concerns. Familiar places are closing or changing, and the future her friends imagine for themselves no longer necessarily matches her own expectations.
Finji combines those grounded concerns with a supernatural mystery threatening the entire city.

The studio describes a story featuring around 25 characters, with conversations involving both the living and the dead.
Combat built for different skill levels
Creative director Adam Saltsman has outlined an approach designed to make combat easy to understand without limiting more experienced players.
June begins with accessible melee attacks and dodges. Advanced options include parries, super moves, weapon changes and abilities that can be combined in different ways.
Successful dodges refill the super meter, while armor can recover during a fight. These systems encourage players to balance offensive pressure with defensive movement.
As June gains experience, she unlocks additional projectiles, defenses, traps and summons.

Saltsman has described situations in which players might parry an enemy, place an explosive underneath it and retreat before detonation. Other combinations involve switching weapons during attack sequences or using movement to create new openings.
These examples establish the intended flexibility of the system. They do not provide independent evidence of how balanced the complete game will be.
Investigating with the living and the dead
The adventure extends beyond combat arenas. Fen Harbor contains secret laboratories, buried tunnels, haunted observatories and abandoned train stations.
Ghosts have access to memories of the past, while living characters can physically interact with the environment. June must bring those different perspectives together to understand what is happening.
The underlying mystery leads toward a strange world connected to the creatures threatening the city.

The project is directed by Adam Saltsman, with writing contributions from David Pinckney and Cara Ellison and audio direction by Adam Hay.
Finji is known for developing Overland and Canabalt and publishing games including TUNIC and Night in the Woods.
A playable demo before the new release date
A free Steam demo remains available. It introduces part of the cast, a mausoleum location and the basic combat system.
Usual June is planned for Windows PC and Mac. No console release has been officially confirmed.
The currently listed Steam languages include English interface text and subtitles, with no confirmed French localisation.
The full game is scheduled for January 20, 2027. Its final price has not been established in the official information examined.
