Steam's top sellers have a new leader as Dawnwalker jumps ahead of CS2 and Apex

Steam's latest completed weekly chart has produced a sizeable reshuffle. The Blood of Dawnwalker has climbed all the way to number one by revenue, ahead of Counter-Strike 2 and Apex Legends, with several September releases crowding the top ten.

Steam's top sellers have a new leader as Dawnwalker jumps ahead of CS2 and Apex

The Blood of Dawnwalker is Steam's highest-grossing product for the week running from September 1 to September 8, 2026. Rebel Wolves' RPG climbed sixteen positions to take first place, pushing Counter-Strike 2 into second and Apex Legends into third.

Steam's chart is based on revenue rather than unit sales. That distinction matters: free-to-play games can and regularly do appear near the top because spending inside those games contributes to their position. It is why Counter-Strike 2, Apex Legends and Dota 2 can sit alongside full-price releases in the same ranking.

A very visible first week for Dawnwalker

The Blood of Dawnwalker launched in early September and immediately converted its pre-release attention into a number-one position. It is the debut game from Rebel Wolves, the studio founded by developers with backgrounds at CD Projekt, and it now sits above some of Steam's most persistent revenue generators.

Valve does not publish the amount of revenue attached to each position, nor does this table reveal copies sold. The useful part is the order itself: during this particular weekly period, Dawnwalker generated more Steam revenue than every other product on the platform.

Onimusha is back near the top

Capcom also has reason to like the chart. Onimusha: Way of the Sword rises twenty-four places to number four following its September 4 launch.

WARDOGS follows in fifth, up five places, while Bodycam climbs to sixth. WARDOGS officially released on September 10, so its presence in the chart before that date reflects revenue generated through purchases made ahead of launch rather than a full post-release week.

Steam's current top ten

- 1. The Blood of Dawnwalker - 2. Counter-Strike 2 - 3. Apex Legends - 4. Onimusha: Way of the Sword - 5. WARDOGS - 6. Bodycam - 7. Dota 2 - 8. How to Fish - 9. Halloween: The Game - 10. NBA 2K27

Halloween: The Game makes the biggest leap inside the top ten, climbing 45 positions to ninth. How to Fish moves the other way, dropping from third to eighth, while NBA 2K27 rounds out the list in tenth.

Last week's leader, STAR WARS Zero Company, falls to number eleven. Crimson Desert Enhanced is twelfth, with Red Dead Redemption 2 at fourteen and Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced at fifteen.

Steam's old guard is still everywhere

The wider chart remains a mix of new launches and games that seem permanently attached to Steam's storefront. Warframe is eighteenth, PUBG nineteenth, Elden Ring 31st and Baldur's Gate 3 62nd.

Terraria is still there at number 58. Some games apparently need more than fifteen years before they consider leaving.

The next weekly chart should be more revealing for September's newest releases. WARDOGS will have a much fuller sales period behind it, while games arriving around mid-September will begin competing for the same top positions. Dawnwalker, meanwhile, gets the simpler challenge: staying number one.
