NIKKE brings the bunnies back: Guilty and Sin become full SSR units while Sugar goes to Costume Gacha

SHIFT UP began by showing three carefully cropped silhouettes and hiding their faces. The prisoner numbers, mask and motorcycle key made the guessing game considerably easier than intended. The answer is now official: Guilty and Sin are becoming new Bunny SSRs, while Sugar receives a Killer Rabbit costume. All of it arrives only weeks before a fourth anniversary the studio is already describing as its most ambitious narrative celebration yet.

NIKKE brings the bunnies back: Guilty and Sin become full SSR units while Sugar goes to Costume Gacha

GODDESS OF VICTORY: NIKKE's next major seasonal event is COIN RUSH SHOWDOWN.

The event begins September 17 after maintenance and returns to one of NIKKE's most reliable recurring themes: bunny girls and the Coin Rush casino.

This year is not simply a collection of costumes for existing characters.

Two of the featured characters are becoming separately recruitable SSR units.

Guilty leaves Rehabilitation with a completely new SSR

Guilty: Mighty Bunny is the first new recruit.

Her Pick Up Recruitment begins after maintenance on September 17 and remains available until October 8 at 04:59 UTC+9.

That distinction matters.

Mighty Bunny is not merely an outfit applied to the existing Guilty. SHIFT UP is introducing her as a new SSR Nikke with a separate recruitment banner.

That also gives Guilty a particularly unusual acquisition history.

Her original form was associated with Liberation and Rehabilitation rather than an ordinary Pick Up banner.

Her alternate version now walks directly into conventional recruitment.

Prisoner No.097 was not especially difficult to identify

The teaser released before the full reveal showed three characters without their faces.

The first had a large green bow, black-and-green hair and No.097 marked near her neck.

For anyone familiar with Real Kindness, the mystery did not last very long.

Mighty Bunny preserves visual references to Guilty's overwhelming strength and restraints while moving the character into a much more technological bunny design.

SHIFT UP describes her as a super-charged sci-fi bunny combining her physical power with a cutting-edge suit.

Sin arrives one week later

The second new SSR is Sin: Swift Bunny.

Her banner does not begin alongside Guilty's.

Sin's Pick Up Recruitment opens September 24 at 05:00 UTC+9 and closes October 15 at 04:59.

That follows a very familiar NIKKE release structure: one character when the event begins, followed by another recruitment target a week later.

For players interested in both, the delay provides at least a little room to evaluate Guilty before Sin begins asking for the same Advanced Recruit Vouchers and Gems.

No.098 was not much better at staying anonymous

Sin's teaser carried the number No.098.

Its black-and-purple design and the presence of her characteristic restraint device pointed very strongly toward the second Real Kindness prisoner.

That gives Sin and Guilty a connection deeper than simply wearing matching seasonal outfits.

Both belong to the group of inmates originally introduced through NIKKE's Rehabilitation system.

Turning them into Bunny variants together lets COIN RUSH SHOWDOWN build on an existing relationship rather than selecting two popular characters with no narrative connection.

Sugar really was the third silhouette, but she is not another new unit

The third teaser was even less subtle.

White hair, black gloves, a motorcycle-style key with a bullet charm and the word “coffee” pointed directly at Sugar.

Sugar receives the limited Killer Rabbit costume.

It will be available through Costume Gacha from September 17 after maintenance until October 8 at 04:59 UTC+9.

The three-image campaign was therefore hiding two different products.

Guilty and Sin are separately playable SSR versions. Sugar remains the existing character with a new outfit.

For players who follow the characters more closely than the store structure, that is worth knowing before spending anything.

The Bunny event has become a remarkably efficient annual machine

NIKKE is obviously not attending its first night at the casino.

Bunny characters and Coin Rush have become one of the game's most recognizable recurring seasonal concepts.

Blanc, Noir, Soda, Alice, Viper, Mary, Folkwang, Exia and several others have already contributed to the proud tradition of proving that humanity's survival apparently requires a very large bunny wardrobe.

SHIFT UP itself says the Bunny theme has consistently received strong feedback from Commanders.

COIN RUSH SHOWDOWN is therefore returning to territory the studio already knows has enormous commercial appeal.

Older bunny costumes are coming back too

The mid-September period also includes a substantial wave of costume reruns.

SHIFT UP has announced the return of six previously limited outfits.

- Mary - Medical Rabbit - Viper - Toxic Rabbit - Folkwang - Moist Rabbit - Exia - Hacker Rabbit - Bay - Radiant Rabbit - Alice - Sweet Home

For players who joined after their original releases, September concentrates several years of seasonal cosmetics into a very short purchasing window.

Six older limited Nikkes are returning to recruitment as well

The pressure is not limited to cosmetics.

SHIFT UP also plans to reopen recruitment for six older limited Nikkes.

- Rupee: Winter Shopper - Anne: Miracle Fairy - Ludmilla: Winter Owner - Mica: Snow Buddy - Maiden: Ice Rose - Guillotine: Winter Slayer

September therefore stacks new SSR units, Costume Gacha, old costumes and limited reruns at the same time.

For a free-to-play player, the problem stops being deciding what looks desirable.

It becomes deciding what is acceptable to miss.

That is where the approaching fourth anniversary becomes important

NIKKE reaches its fourth anniversary in November.

Director Hyungsuk Yoo has already begun setting unusually high expectations for that update.

He says the storylines developed so far are converging toward the fourth anniversary.

SHIFT UP is preparing more narrative scenes and new music than in previous anniversary updates and expects it to be the largest anniversary celebration the game has produced.

That automatically turns every September banner into an economic decision.

Guilty and Sin can be extremely tempting while players already know an even larger release window is only several weeks away.

SHIFT UP is investing in more than new characters

The studio is also expanding how NIKKE presents its own world.

From the fourth quarter of 2026 through the fifth anniversary in 2027, several narrative-focused improvements are expected to arrive progressively.

SHIFT UP mentions more SD-character features, systems designed to improve story immersion and additional decorative elements.

A short-form animated project called MINIKKE: Tiny Tales has already begun rolling out.

The series is planned for ten episodes of roughly five minutes each and will feature SD versions of characters including important groups such as Goddess Squad and Old Tales.

Even collaborations will leave more room for NIKKE's own stories

Beginning in 2027, SHIFT UP also plans to change how crossover events are structured.

Large collaborations will continue when a property warrants the full treatment.

A second, smaller format will remove large 3D event spaces and mini-games while reducing the number of collaboration characters.

The stated reason is to make more room in the schedule for original NIKKE stories.

That decision makes more sense when viewed alongside the fourth-anniversary plans.

SHIFT UP increasingly appears confident that its own cast and setting are strong enough to carry more of the calendar without constantly borrowing outside franchises.

Overload Gear is losing some of its most irritating friction

The mid-September update is also expected to bring quality-of-life changes to Overload Equipment.

Locked effects will remain locked through subsequent operations instead of requiring players to select them again for every attempt.

Rerolls will also stop returning the exact same result that the player just spent resources trying to change.

That is considerably less glamorous than a new Bunny SSR.

For anyone optimizing several endgame teams, it may be one of the changes that remains useful long after the event disappears.

Solo Raid is getting an official practice environment from day one

SHIFT UP is also introducing Mock Battle access for Solo Raid Challenge difficulty from the first day of each raid.

The change responds to an unusual competitive problem.

Some players were suspected of practicing Challenge encounters early through private environments.

Rather than relying only on enforcement, SHIFT UP is giving every Commander an official way to study boss patterns and test teams before Challenge ranking opens.

It is an unexpectedly practical solution.

COIN RUSH SHOWDOWN arrives at a particularly cruel time for anybody trying to save Gems

Taken by itself, the Bunny event is easy to understand.

Guilty arrives September 17. Sin follows September 24. Sugar gets Killer Rabbit. Older bunny cosmetics and limited Nikkes return around them.

Inside NIKKE's complete calendar, the decision is much less simple.

The fourth anniversary is approaching, the main story is moving toward another major turning point and SHIFT UP is already promising its biggest anniversary yet.

That is where gacha design shows what it really is.

Pulling is not only a question of probability.

It is also the ability to look at a brand-new Bunny Guilty and remember that October still exists after September.
