Mission Delta Returns to PAX Aus With 60+ Weapons, 30+ Fusions and a Skyscraper Built for Roguelike Chaos

Mission Delta applied for the PAX Aus Indie Showcase in 2024 and did not make it. Polarity Games gave the project another two years. It is coming back with a much clearer weapon: a fusion system built to turn a large arsenal into increasingly ridiculous combinations.

Mission Delta is one of the six digital winners selected for the PAX Aus 2026 Indie Showcase. The Melbourne studio will bring the game to the show from October 9 through 11.

There is still no release date.

Weapon fusion is more than a side upgrade

Delta Corp is a biotech company obsessed with creating a perfect being. Its major invention is a machine capable of fusing objects, organic life and machinery.

Escaped experiments use the same technology against the company.

Polarity Games currently lists more than 60 weapons and over 30 weapon fusions. More than 80 upgrades and items can be stacked around those combinations during a run.

That gives the loot system two layers. A weapon can be useful on its own, but it may also be valuable because of what it can become when paired with another piece of the arsenal.

The game was designed around online co-op from the start

Mission Delta supports one to four players, including online and shared or split-screen co-op.

The developer says the project began partly because the team wanted more retro roguelikes with proper online multiplayer rather than games that needed community mods to make co-op work.

Nuclear Throne and Enter the Gungeon are explicit inspirations. Roboquest influenced the desire for intense section-by-section action, while Tiny Rogues helped shape the linear room-and-door progression.

Every run climbs the same corporate nightmare

Players begin below Delta Corp and work upward through the Sewers, Basement, Offices, Armory, Lab and Executive floors.

Six playable characters are planned. Fox, one of the corporation's escaped experiments, is the character currently identified in the official story description.

The game uses top-down pixel-art combat with stylised blood and gore. Full controller support is already listed.

Two extra years made the difference

Director Aiden Mellor says Mission Delta first applied to the Indie Showcase in 2024 when development was still too early. The team skipped ahead, kept working and submitted again in 2026.

This time it won a place.

Polarity says most of Mission Delta has been built over more than three years by a core team of three people, with development continuing alongside other full-time and part-time work.

The official press kit lists Windows, Linux and macOS. Release remains To be announced.
