Lightyear Frontier finally leaves Early Access on November 4
The tractor is a mech, the fields are on an alien planet and, after more than two years in Early Access, the 1.0 harvest finally has a date. Lightyear Frontier will officially launch on November 4, 2026 for Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam and the Microsoft Store.
Early Access started back in March 2024
FRAME BREAK confirmed the date during Coffee Stain's Big Break Showcase. Lightyear Frontier entered Early Access and Xbox Game Preview on March 19, 2024, making November's full release the end of a public development period lasting a little over two and a half years.
The studio is doing considerably more than removing an Early Access label. Version 1.0 will introduce two new regions, the Sandswept Highlands and Hollow Marsh, alongside the finale of the main story. FRAME BREAK deliberately withheld the final missions and ending from its September beta so everyone could reach that material after release.
Existing saves will carry over. That matters for a game undergoing substantial systemic changes: established farms do not have to be sacrificed to the interstellar compost heap just because the version number reaches 1.0.
The farm is changing under the hood
Progression is one of the bigger areas being rebuilt. Deliveries will be fewer and more meaningful, multiple deliveries can be queued, and automation becomes available earlier. Automators are being removed from progression in favor of Automation Pipes, while storage constructs gain outputs and resource filters.
Version 1.0 will also allow up to three auto-crafting recipes to be queued in a single Crafting Construct. It is not the kind of feature that dominates a trailer, but it could matter considerably to players whose peaceful alien homestead has gradually evolved into a logistics network.
Farming receives its own changes, including a crop rotation overhaul, new fertilizers, four additional crops and tool improvements. The old day transitions are being removed too, allowing play to continue seamlessly between days alongside a dynamic weather system.
Two new regions and a flying mech
Exploration is expanding as well. Sandswept Highlands and Hollow Marsh add new territory to the world, while new mech parts, tool levels and Mod Chips extend the upgrade path.
One of the harder additions to overlook is Skyblazer, a flying Transform Mode for the mech. The Seed Shooter can meanwhile acquire a minigun mod. Lightyear Frontier clearly remains committed to its charmingly excessive premise: applying industrial machinery to jobs that conventional farming solved with considerably less hardware.
Mech customization is also being overhauled, and new difficulty options are planned. Named map markers and broader guidance improvements should make resources, animals and objectives easier to track across the expanded world.
November 4 becomes the real finish line
The date is now set: Lightyear Frontier 1.0 is announced for November 4 on Xbox Series X|S and PC, with the PC edition available through Steam and the Microsoft Store. Online co-op continues to support groups of up to four players in total.
The full release will also bring a previously announced price increase to $29.99, €29.99 or £23.49 in the applicable regions. FRAME BREAK is holding its final Early Access Steam sale before that change.
After a development period in which updates could still rebuild major pieces of the farm, version 1.0 finally establishes the complete shape of Lightyear Frontier: a laid-back space farming game still happy to hand you wildly oversized machinery, now with a journey designed to run all the way from the first crop to an actual ending.
