Faraday Blues turns your family into a 52-card deck where fixing one tragedy can break something else

The cards in Faraday Blues do not summon creatures or add critical damage. They represent your mother, your father, their memories, the objects around them and sometimes the tiny detail capable of ruining an entire life. Serenity Forge is using that idea to build a narrative game where preventing one tragedy definitely does not mean discovering the correct timeline.

Faraday Blues turns your family into a 52-card deck where fixing one tragedy can break something else

Serenity Forge revealed Faraday Blues during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2026 Broadcast. It is planned for 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with Xbox Cloud Gaming support also announced.

The protagonist is Lina, a mysterious young woman who wakes somewhere she does not understand. An old computer leads her to a strange tabletop covered in playing cards. Two of those cards depict her parents.

They have no idea who she is.

It uses a deck without really becoming a deckbuilder

Faraday Blues revolves around 52 cards, but Serenity Forge is not building traditional card combat. Cards represent people, memories, objects and pieces of the Faraday family's history.

Players place them into conversations, locations and major events, then enter the timeline to experience what those placements changed.

Put one person outside a bedroom instead of another and a tragedy may play out differently. Let two characters spend time together and their relationship can permanently shift. A memory or item discovered in one era may still be affecting someone decades later.

There is also a basic restriction with surprisingly nasty consequences: people cannot be everywhere at once. Sending somebody into a minor interaction can leave them unavailable when something much more important happens.

Saving someone is not the same thing as solving the timeline

Game director Zhenghua Yang describes a system without an obvious perfect answer. Preventing one death can produce another loss. Repairing one relationship may leave somebody else isolated.

Characters can also move between Order and Entropy, alter their suit alignment, transform their cards and develop states that change future options.

The board therefore behaves less like a puzzle with one correct configuration and more like a machine for moving consequences around.

Three visual novels inherit one another's mistakes

The Faraday family story spans three main eras. Each period uses a different visual identity, atmosphere and narrative style, including a different version of the apartment Lina explores.

They are not isolated campaigns. Relationships, memories, items, character states and endings propagate forward.

By the third era, the player is entering a reality assembled from every compromise, rescue and disaster created before it.

There are 64 endings, and most are not supposed to feel like victories

Serenity Forge says Faraday Blues contains 64 endings. Some may qualify as victories, while many deliberately do not.

The studio's official game page also reveals a hidden fourth timeline that becomes available under specific conditions, involving a suspicious trillionaire and a much larger attempt to alter reality.

The number matters less as a content statistic than as evidence of the structure: outcomes accumulate rather than resetting cleanly.

An unusual creative team for a deliberately personal story

Serenity Forge founder Zhenghua Yang directs the project alongside co-creator and lead artist Satchely, known for her character work on Doki Doki Literature Club.

Kevin Ye serves as narrative director. Cyanide & Happiness creator Kris Wilson is composing music, while Nichole Goodnight, the voice of the Princess in Slay the Princess, is among the announced performers.

Yang frames the game around something much less exotic than its time-manipulation machinery: the habit of replaying moments from our own lives and imagining what might have happened if somebody had made a different choice.

Faraday Blues just gives that impulse a deck of cards.
