CookieRun: OvenBreak brings Go? Stop? Run! back while Yakgwa Village fills with ghosts again
CookieRun: OvenBreak is heading toward its tenth anniversary with several events running at once. Go? Stop? Run! returned on September 3, joining the new Yakgwa Village story and a broader update to Story Run and the 2026 World Championship features.

Go? Stop? Run! is live again, giving players missions built around its recurring stop-or-continue choices. Completing them awards GO Points, with Gold Gems and a limited Title among the event rewards.
The event runs until October 1 and sits inside a much larger late-August update rather than functioning as a standalone patch.
Two shamans arrive in Yakgwa Village
Return of Yakgwa Village: Haunting Tales began with Scallion Kimchi Cookie and her Pet, Lady Mudang. The new Cookie uses sacred blades and can trigger a forward Scallion Blade Blast that destroys obstacles.
Lady Mudang has a more vertical trick: she leaps upward and smashes into the ground to create Mudang Jellies and Mudang Potions.
The story event is split into two parts. Chapter 1 runs through September 10, while Chapter 2 opens one hour later and continues until September 22.
Yakgwa Village has appeared in several OvenBreak stories over the years, so this is a return rather than a completely new location. The current chapter leans back into its ghosts, rituals and Korean-inspired setting.
Story Run gets a more useful reason to revisit old chapters
Devsisters has also renewed Story Run. Chapter-completion rewards have been added, giving out items including Coins and Crystals instead of leaving older story content as something players mostly clear once and forget.
The main story now includes Chapter 8: The Age of Dragons and Chapter 9: Curse of the Sacred Forest.
That matters more than it sounds for a live game approaching a decade of accumulated characters and plotlines. OvenBreak has a lot of history to organise.
World Championship maps can be played early
The revamped 2026 World Championship mode is open as well. It includes tournament information and lets players run the official competition maps before the championship itself.
Cookies, Pets and Treasures are set to maximum level in this mode even when a player does not own them. The event remains available through October 25.
Elsewhere, the maximum Escape Level has increased to 450 with new rewards, while Trophy Race has rotated Descending Darkness into the current map pool.
October is the bigger date on the calendar
The September events lead directly into CookieRun: OvenBreak's tenth anniversary. Devsisters has already started distributing anniversary BraveChips and previously outlined a much larger October celebration.
The 2026 roadmap promises a new permanent mode, additional content, an offline event and a global World Championship around the anniversary period.
Before that, Yakgwa Village has another appointment. Chapter 2 of Haunting Tales begins on September 10.
