Switch 2 still has a packed September ahead, from Fire Emblem to Batman and Minecraft

Nintendo Switch 2 has already picked up Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Complete Edition, Orbitals, Onimusha: Way of the Sword and Valheim during September. The second half of the month is where the schedule really bunches up.

Dragonwilds starts the next wave today

RuneScape: Dragonwilds launches for Switch 2 on September 15 alongside its full 1.0 release elsewhere. Jagex has taken the RuneScape universe into open-world survival crafting, with players gathering resources, building shelters, developing skills and hunting dragons alone or in four-player co-op.

Its arrival also gives Nintendo players their first RuneScape game. Dragonwilds keeps recognizable creatures, skills and pieces of Gielinor lore, but packages them inside a considerably different kind of game.

Nintendo's own heavyweight arrives two days later

Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave launches exclusively for Switch 2 on September 17. Intelligent Systems has built the new entry around four heroes, the Heroic Games and a time-travel story in which changing events in the past becomes part of preventing the destruction of the future.

Battles remain tactical and turn based, but preparation stretches well beyond the grid. Players can explore Dagsion, train, build relationships, recruit allies and venture outside the city between matches.

Then Batman turns up on September 18

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight reaches Switch 2 one day after Fire Emblem. TT Games' open-world Gotham adventure follows Bruce Wayne from his early training through his transformation into Batman, with Batmobiles, detective work, villains and plenty of references to the character's long history across comics, film and games.

The Switch 2 release lands months after the other versions, but it arrives alongside another dose of Deluxe Edition content built around Joker and Harley Quinn.

The final week jumps from Dragon Quest to football

Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition comes to Switch 2 on September 24. Nintendo's listing highlights the additional character scenarios, Japanese and English voice options and multiple graphical modes included in this version.

EA Sports FC 27 follows on September 25 and is one of the month's releases still supporting both Nintendo generations. EA is bringing it to Switch 2 and the original Switch, with changes to attacking awareness, defending and set pieces alongside the new social football space called The Grounds.

Minecraft gets the last big September slot

Minecraft Dungeons II arrives September 29 on both Switch systems. Mojang's sequel returns to action-RPG combat rather than Minecraft's traditional building loop, offering local and online cooperative play for up to four players across a new adventure spanning two threatened worlds.

Nintendo notes that release dates were accurate when its September schedule was published. As things stand, Switch 2 is moving from dragons to tactical warfare, Gotham, football and Minecraft in the space of two weeks.
