PAX Aus 2026 Picks Six Indies Ranging From Cartridge Cleaning to Pacifist Bullet Hell
The PAX Aus Indie Showcase could have selected six variations on a familiar indie hit. Instead, its 2026 group includes dirty game cartridges, a police dog, weapon fusion, forgotten gods and one deeply uncomfortable house party.

PAX Aus has announced the six digital winners of its 2026 Indie Showcase. Each team will receive exhibition space at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre when the event runs from October 9 to 11.
The selected games are Cozy Game Restoration, Key Fairy, Finch & Archie, The Last Exterminator, Mission Delta and A Real Life Party.
One game is literally about cleaning cartridges
Parasol Corp's Cozy Game Restoration turns the physical rituals of retro collecting into a simulator. Players peel stickers, remove tape, clean grime and gradually restore neglected game cartridges.
PAX describes it as deliberately pressure-free. There is no failure state hanging over the restoration process.
Another keeps bullet hell but abandons killing
Owl Machine's Key Fairy is described as a hand-drawn pacifist folkloric bullet hell. Its protagonist grapples around hostile creatures and collects their shattered stars rather than defeating them through conventional damage.
The surrounding adventure moves through strange folk, ancient magic and forgotten gods. Key Fairy is already available on Windows.
Co-op investigation gets a canine information layer
Finch & Archie splits a Depression-era murder investigation between detective Jack Finch and police dog Archie.
Finch examines evidence and interrogates suspects. Archie follows scents. The information asymmetry is part of the puzzle rather than a cosmetic character difference.
Octarine Arts is building the story episodically, with the game currently available in Early Access.
The remaining three are just as difficult to group together
The Last Exterminator is Ironworks Games' deliberately loud tribute to 1990s action shooters, complete with exaggerated set pieces and corny humour. The developer is using an in-house engine to combine that retro presentation with modern accessibility.
Mission Delta is a top-down cooperative action roguelike about escaped experiments climbing through Delta Corp's skyscraper. Weapons can be fused into new combinations and upgrades stacked throughout each run.
A Real Life Party is a short comedy built from photographs and video instead of a conventional rendered environment. Players navigate a real flat while Anton waits for the one friend who might rescue him from an increasingly awkward party.
The prize is visibility as much as recognition
The Aus Indie Showcase is judged from submissions by Australian independent developers. Winning teams receive dedicated space on the PAX floor to put their games directly in front of players, media and industry visitors.
Superloop is sponsoring the 2026 edition and says each winning team will also receive 12 months of internet service and an eero 7 modem.
All six digital winners will be at PAX Aus from October 9 to 11, 2026.
