Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 adds dual-wielding and plenty of reasons to return to Night City

V has spent years taking down enemies with cybernetic blades, heavy firearms and increasingly elaborate quickhacks. Yet a familiar action-movie trick was missing: firing two pistols at the same time.

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 finally introduces that option. Announced in full through October 21 patch notes, the free release also expands customization, exploration and community-created content.

Double Trouble introduces a new combat style

The Double Trouble perk arrives in the Cool skill tree, accompanied by four related perks. It allows players to dual-wield Power pistols and revolvers.

This provides a distinct approach for handgun-focused builds. Players will be able to shape their combat style around carrying two weapons simultaneously rather than switching between them.

CD Projekt RED has not published enough detailed balancing information to establish whether this approach will outperform existing builds. Its effectiveness will depend on the associated perks and actual combat behavior.

Photo Mode gains dedicated dual-wielding poses, letting players capture their newly theatrical gunfights.

Cyberware becomes part of personal style

Five Glamdocs will allow players to customize the appearance of their hand cyberware.

Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire and the Projectile Launch System are supported. Each Glamdoc features a dedicated shop, an animated and voiced introduction and its own catalog of visual designs.

These additions are presented as customization features, not confirmed combat-stat upgrades.

Night City also gains new clothing collections from MaxiWear, Jinguji, NetWatch and IconAmerica. Another set is planned for a later date, while NUS Infiltrator clothing becomes available from selected vendors.

Edgerunners 2 adds a new mission

The Clampdown side quest takes place before the events of the new Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 anime.

Players must complete The Heist and two gigs for Wakako before waiting for a message that begins the mission.

The reward includes a five-piece equipment set inspired by King, one of the characters associated with the anime.

The new HKGN 102.0 FM radio station features music from the Edgerunners series, providing another connection between the show and the game.

Night City receives another sightseeing opportunity

A separate mission called Welcome to Paradise offers a guided tour narrated by Richard Night.

It becomes available after The Heist once the player reaches Street Cred level 15.

Twelve new Minor Arcana tarot cards provide additional exploration objectives. Collecting them extends Fool on the Hill and eventually awards a special reward.

The tarot interface now distinguishes Major and Minor Arcana, making the expanding collection easier to navigate.

Console mods are the biggest long-term addition

Update 2.5 introduces cross-platform mod support powered by mod.io.

Players can browse and install a selected range of community creations directly through the in-game menu.

CD Projekt RED confirms support for PC, Mac, PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, subject to the release schedule for each platform.

This is not an unrestricted guarantee that every existing PC mod will work on consoles. The studio describes the feature as an initial step, with additional mods becoming available over time.

Achievements and trophies cannot be earned on consoles when playing from modded save files.

The rollout will be staggered

The update is scheduled for October 22 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The official English notes also list Mac versions sold through Steam, GOG and the Epic Games Store for that date.

Nintendo Switch 2 and the Mac App Store release will receive the update in the following days.

Additional improvements include a console FOV slider, filters for apartment and vehicle storage, and save files grouped by playthrough.

Rather than serving only as a promotion for the anime, Update 2.5 changes how players fight, explore and customize Cyberpunk 2077. Its combination of new missions and platform-wide modding support could make returning to Night City particularly appealing.
