Deskrawl Wants to Run an Action RPG Along the Bottom of Your Desktop

Deskrawl: Idle ARPG asks a potentially dangerous question for productivity: why close your action RPG when it could keep producing loot along the bottom of the screen? First Day Games has scheduled its Steam unlock for September 28, 2026 at 5 AM PDT, or 1 PM BST. At the time of verification, the store still marked the game as unavailable and displayed a countdown to its release.

Deskrawl Wants to Run an Action RPG Along the Bottom of Your Desktop

An ARPG designed to share your screen

Deskrawl takes familiar action-RPG ingredients — monsters, equipment, stats, abilities and builds — and places them in a strip running along the bottom of the desktop. The idea is to keep progression moving while the user works or does something else, while still allowing them to return and actively manage their character.

First Day Games consequently does not present Deskrawl as a simple resource counter running out of sight. Players choose from a roster of heroes with different playstyles and combine equipment, abilities and companions to increase their power. The idle format reduces the need for constant attention, while character building remains at the heart of the loop.

Defeated monsters can end up working for you

Enemy capture is one of the more distinctive parts of the system. Deskrawl allows defeated creatures to become minions, and even bosses can be captured. Those companions can then contribute directly to combat or provide passive bonuses.

They also have a less glamorous but useful job: hauling the loot cart. The mechanic fits the broader design, which aims to keep rewards flowing while the player's attention is elsewhere. Apparently even a demonic boss can eventually find a career in logistics.

The town provides a second progression track

Collected resources are not reserved solely for hero statistics. Deskrawl also lets players develop a town from a quiet outpost into a larger hub. Growing it unlocks new NPCs and services, which in turn create additional ways to improve the player's power.

Mythic Realms provide a more active destination for those builds through timed trials and escalating difficulty tiers. Going deeper is meant to produce better rewards, giving players somewhere to deploy the characters that the idle systems have steadily loaded with gear and stats.

The Steam Market becomes part of the loot loop

Deskrawl does not keep every reward sealed inside a local progression system. Its official Steam description says players will be able to trade valuable equipment, materials and minions with other users through the Steam Community Market. That is a significant addition for a game whose central loop revolves around accumulating both items and creatures.

The game itself is nevertheless listed as single-player. Steam also lists achievements, Steam Cloud, leaderboards and Family Sharing. Thirteen interface and subtitle languages are advertised, including French.

A timed launch rather than availability already confirmed

First Day Games has published exact launch times: 5 AM in Los Angeles, 8 AM in New York, 1 PM in London, 8 PM in Beijing and 9 PM in Tokyo on September 28. The studio also shut down the demo on the evening of September 26 Pacific Time, saying it wanted to focus its resources and servers on the full game.

That timing matters when describing the release. Steam clearly lists September 28, 2026 as Deskrawl's release date, but the page opened before the scheduled unlock still stated that the game was not yet available. At that point, this is therefore a confirmed launch scheduled for later in the day rather than availability that has already been verified.
